6 Things We Should Normalize from TIME 100, CBS Survivor Players, & Cats In Parks (Audio & Written)
Thoughts from a Week With TIME Magazine, CBS Survivor Players & Cats in Parks Lol
Damn. What a week…. Long story short: I FAN GIRL’D the hardest I’ve ever fan girled. And was it over a designer, an actor, a legendary philanthropist? Nope, it was over a SURVIVOR player. (Do you watch Survivor?)
Anyway, here are 6 things I think we should normalize from a week of fun meets cozy meets not so cute n everything in between :)
Making morning Cacao drinks! (Recipe below)
I have a new morning drink. I love it, it’s cacao based. Right now, matcha is the star of “caffeine culture” lol, along with the staple of coffee and in third place: tea. And I love all of them, but have been dipping into cacao lately.
Recipe:
1. heat almond milk
2. Add one table spoon of Cacao
3. Add honey to taste & froth it all together in your morning mug (I love this handheld frother.)
4. Add a single shot of espresso, stir and it’s like you’re drinking “warm earth chocolate.”
Normalize the thought every person having a personal “atmosphere” surrounding them, and it affects others. It leaves a lasting imprint! I FAN-GIRL’D HARD over Rizzo from this season of Survivor, yes this is me getting my photo and seconds before, I screamed “omg” on a public sidewalk- oops. That’s because I was affected by the atmosphere he put out on the show. It was one of extreme confidence! While other’s found his temperament mildly annoying on the season, I enjoyed it because I saw a gap of bravery that I’m missing personally sometimes. It motivated and excited me!
Normalize taking your kitty to the park! (omg.)
I about died. I was so excited to stalk these people and then meet them to ask how they trained their kitty to sit in the park. I want to take Moon to Central Park, but I’m afraid the loud noises will scare him, so I got some tips lol.
My conclusion is that I’m either:
A. buying a cat stroller to begin this process.
B. Getting a dog that I can take around town with me.
For now, I think option A.’s a little more seamless.
Let’s normalize adding “browsing home decor stores” to our list of personal wellness outings. I want a Ninja Creamie. This is not groundbreaking, but was super fun to look for. Lol.
Normalize Parasols! :) I saved this from my cousins wedding and one day this week, my makeup was done for an event with no SPF underneath, so I busted it out for a walk to the grocery store.
Finally, Normalize “Done” as better than “Perfect”
I was invited to the TIME 100 Conference last week and I felt under prepared to get ready for it. (This was the best photo I took, and I’ll be very honest, I threw some better lighting on it and ironed my pants with an app, plus probably removed my tired circles too.) I was NOT feeling my best. I was jetlagged, tired, and a lot of my clothing is still in boxes, so was this outfit “nailed?” Hell no. Lol I liked the top and shoes but those pants, no belt etc. For a brand like TIME, I’d usually put a little more effort into making sure my outfit was something that lit me up.
But “Done” is better than “Perfect.” Yes, I believe presentation can make you feel light years more confident, but when you just have to settle, there’s something so radiant about a woman who just claims “good enough” is the best for the day.Think: My inner being and who I am inside is what’s going to power the interactions I have with others. (An old version of myself could have been deflated by something so material, but I’m practicing accepting and amplifying inner light lately.
